Reviving a Classic: The Toyota Land Cruiser's Rugged Return to America as a Lexus GX-Based Off-Roader
by AutoExpert | 8 August, 2023
The Toyota Land Cruiser is making a triumphant return to America, reimagined as a rugged Lexus GX-based off-roader, and the result is breathtaking. Even though the showcased 2-door convertible version of the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser may never see production, its appeal is undeniable.
It's essential to clarify that the information below is an artistic interpretation and not related to or endorsed by Toyota.
The Land Cruiser's reentry to the American market, albeit brief, has set the digital artists' community abuzz. The most captivating rendition comes from Theottle, a creative entity known for its stunning Lexus GX pickup truck concept. This time, Theottle has fashioned Toyota's iconic SUV into a two-door convertible, reminiscent of the Jeep Wrangler and Ford Bronco.
The design journey began with the shortening of the wheelbase. Subsequently, a recolored rollbar from a Wrangler was introduced to complement the Land Cruiser's vibrant yellow paint. Moving forward, Theottle attached a removable roof from the Wrangler to the rollbar, and similar changes were made to the rear. In addition, a tailgate-mounted spare tire from the Wrangler was incorporated, with Jeep's wheel design being replaced by Toyota's.
Despite the use of Wrangler components and the incorporation of the new Land Cruiser's unique design features, such as its kinked beltline, there's a distinct echo of the Ford Bronco. However, such comparisons are neither here nor there.
Overall, the sketches are nothing short of incredible, leaving us yearning for a 2-door convertible Land Cruiser, however improbable it might be.
