Hyundai Creta Electric Arrives To Challenge India’s Growing EV Market
by AutoExpert | 2 January, 2025
Hyundai has pulled the wraps off its latest EV, the Creta Electric, in India. Based on the popular ICE-powered Creta, the electric version comes with a refreshed design and modern features. The Creta Electric sports a new front end with a detailed grille design and active aero flaps in the lower bumper for better efficiency.
At the rear, a pixelated pattern adds a unique touch to the bumper. Its side profile sticks closely to the standard Creta but rides on new 17-inch aero-optimized wheels.
The Hyundai Creta Electric is expected to have a single motor powering the front wheels. It’s quick too—reaching 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in just 7.9 seconds, which beats the ICE-powered Creta N Line.
Buyers can choose between two battery options: a 42 kWh pack offering 390 km (242 miles) of range and a larger 51.4 kWh pack with a range of 473 km (294 miles), both measured under India’s ARAI testing standards.
Charging is equally practical. A DC fast charger can top up the battery by 10–80 percent in just 58 minutes, while a full charge with a standard 11 kW AC wallbox takes about four hours. Inside, the Creta Electric combines style and tech.
It features dual 10.25-inch digital displays, fresh graphics, and a rotary knob on the center console for switching between Eco, Normal, and Sport driving modes. A Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) function also lets owners power external devices through a plug under the rear seats, adding more versatility.
The Hyundai Creta Electric is set to battle competitors like the Suzuki eVitara, Mahindra BE 6, and Tata Curvv EV. Hyundai will formally debut the electric SUV at the Bharat Mobility Show in India on January 17.
