Would you fancy the new Porsche rooftop? Despite not being the first one released by the German automaker this one comes with a plentitude of the most technically advanced ever. This one was designed via dual cooperation between Porsche’s Tequipment and Studio F.A. Porsche. What started as a simple sketch, became a real 1:1 clay model ready to be tested and become something greater.

First of all, they started testing it in the wind tunnel, allowing constant adjustments and even went for endurance trials in the Porsche Development Center in Weissach. According to the collected data from the tests, the roof box can withstand tough conditions on the road and track at speeds upper than 200 km/h (124 mph).

“Like the box, the side blades are available in High-Gloss Black and three other popular colors from our model range: Dolomite Silver Metallic, Carrara White Metallic, and Volcano Grey Metallic.” In addition to the permitted speed, the individualization options for the roof box will also be unique”, said Porsche’s VP of Individualization and Classic, Alexander Fabig. Customers can opt for the same as car-painted or primmed side blades.

Porsche Tequipment’s new roof box comes with three securing straps, a protective cover with the automaker’s logo, two pairs of gloves, and a Porsche Crest sticker, that can be mounted on all base carriers roof transport systems. With a quick-fastening system, both sides opening option, a 480-liter (17 cu-ft) capacity, and supporting a maximum load of 75 kg (165 lbs) support, its price is also a good catch. The Accessory will be available in May, at a price of $1,383 (€1,150) in Germany. If you opt for colored side blades will extra cost you between $240 (€200) and $420 (€350).
