The Mercedes S-Class Coupe Coupe Could Return With Maybach And AMG Luxury Twists

Mercedes might be planning a big surprise for luxury coupe enthusiasts. Rumors suggest that alongside the AMG GT Coupe and CLE Coupe, there could be an S-Class Coupe making a grand return.
Recent trademark filings with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) hint at two potential versions: one from AMG and another wearing the ultra-luxurious Maybach badge. One standout design, supposedly from Maybach, includes a dramatic split rear window, adding to its air of exclusivity.
Curiously, these trademarks didn’t come directly from Mercedes-Benz. Robu Aktiengesellschaft, a Swiss company, registered these trademarks on January 8, 2025. This isn’t the first time Robu has done something like this—they previously filed the design that became the Bussink GT R SpeedLegend, a jaw-dropping speedster based on the AMG GT R and crafted by HWA.
The idea of a sleek Mercedes S-Class Coupe is exciting: it could be a perfect addition to Mercedes’ new Mythos lineup—an exclusive series of ultra-high-end, limited-production cars. The Mythos AMG PureSpeed, for instance, is a roofless SL63 with an F1-style Halo and an outrageous (but undisclosed) price tag.
Adding fuel to the speculation, spy shots published by Spanish magazine Motor.es last year showed a camouflaged Mercedes coupe with a split rear window. Could this be the prototype for the coupe hinted at in the trademark filings? It’s starting to look that way.
For context, the Maybach S680 sedan with its V12 engine starts at $241,650 in the U.S., while the AMG S63 commands a price tag of $187,350. A Mercedes S-Class Mythos coupe would likely soar well beyond those figures.
