According to John Hennessy, he just wants to be fast⦠or even better, the fastest. His best attempt at speed was equipping a performance engine on a lightweight roadster: Hennessy Venom GT which reportedly once achieved 270 mph.
This year he decided to step it up a notch and brought an upgraded version of Venom GT to SEMA. He boosted the power from the "measly" 1,244 hp to 1,451 hp which, theoretically should add 10 more miles per hour to a total of 280 mph.
The power boost comes from an American engine made by GM - it's a 7.0-liter twin-turbo engine that can consume ethanol grade E85. The ethanol raises the pressure from 19 psi to 26 psi thus the 207 hp boost!
Along with the Venom GT, Hennessy is also bringing more or less normal powered cars like 5-liter supercharged Ford, convertible Mustang with 774 hp, and a VelociRaptor with 650 hp.
