Porsche Panamera Breaks Nürburgring Record In Executive Class With 7:24.17 Lap Time
by AutoExpert | 15 July, 2024
At the Nürburgring, the Porsche Panamera set a new record. With a timing of 7 minutes 24.17 seconds around the Nordschleife on Friday, an as-yet-undisclosed trim employing a V-8 hybrid engine became the quickest vehicle in the Nürburgring's "executive" division, according to the organization.
Porsche did not disclose the engine specifications, but they did mention the vehicle's use of their groundbreaking Active Ride suspension, which made its debut on the Panamera earlier this year. When compared to the previous generation's Panamera Turbo S, this hybrid model is more than five seconds faster (7:24).
Additionally, it beats the previous record-holder, a four-door Mercedes-AMG GT63 S, by almost three seconds. But another Porsche—the fully electric Taycan Turbo GT—is the fastest sedan. In a statement, Kern acknowledged that several factors, including the engine, aerodynamics, chassis, and Michelin's new optional ultra-high-performance tires, had contributed to the time.
“The new Porsche Active Ride chassis has made a particularly big contribution as the car stays well connected to the road at all times. Its cornering and body control are on a whole new level."
