The Lexus GX550 Just Got Tougher: Inkas’ Armored Upgrade Adds Military-Grade Protection
by AutoExpert | 18 December, 2024
Inkas has taken the new Lexus GX550 and turned it into an armored beast, making it as tough as it is stylish. The company has added ballistic steel plating to the exterior and reinforced the windows with certified ballistic glass. This armor can withstand 7.62mm bullets from an assault rifle and even two simultaneous grenade blasts, offering serious protection for its occupants.
For those needing to make a quick getaway, Inkas has fitted the GX550 with 20-inch wheels and run-flat tires, ensuring it can keep moving even after a tire hit. Despite all the added armor, the GX still looks like a regular Lexus GX, so it won’t attract unnecessary attention.
The upgrades go beyond the body and glass. The tuner has also added ballistic door overflaps, a bulletproof partition in the rear, and an armored fuel tank enclosure for extra safety. To handle the added weight, Inkas reinforces the door hinges and upgrades the suspension.
Inkas offers plenty of customization options, including a fire suppression system for the engine, a roof escape hatch, CCTV, night vision cameras, strobe lights, an oxygen filtration system, reinforced bumpers, and a siren/PA system with intercom.
The Lexus GX maintains its standard 3.4-liter twin-turbo V6 engine, which produces 349 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque, delivering the performance you'd expect from a luxury SUV and fully equipped for high-security situations.
