The Prelude Is Back: Sportier, Smarter, And More Dynamic
by AutoExpert | 19 December, 2024
Japanese journalists recently tested a prototype of the new Honda Prelude and were impressed by its impressive performance. It borrows some cool tech from the Civic Type R, like dual-axis front suspension to reduce torque steer and adaptive dampers, but adds its own unique touches. One of these is a new GT drive mode, which sits between Comfort and Sport for a nice middle ground.
Honda also confirmed the Prelude will feature an S+ Shift mode. This mode simulates the feel of an eight-speed gearbox by revving the engine and cutting torque from the motor, giving a more dynamic driving experience. Videos from early testers show how it works, and the system is getting plenty of praise.
The Prelude is smaller than the Civic, with a shorter wheelbase and wider tracks, giving it a sportier feel. Inside, it shares the Civic’s interior, which is a good thing since the Civic already feels premium for its class. With its sharper handling, cool new features, and engaging design, the Prelude looks like it’s going to be a relaxing and exciting car to drive.
