Dodge Durango R/T And SRT Hellcat Return For 2025 After Market Demand
by AutoExpert | 23 December, 2024
In a bit of a surprise, Dodge has announced that the Durango R/T and Durango SRT Hellcat will continue production into 2025. Originally scheduled for discontinuation by the end of 2024, these models will now extend their lifespan.
Dodge explained the extension was due to strong market demand and customer feedback. This move comes after the departure of Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares, who was reportedly behind the push to phase out the Hemi engine.
Dodge CEO Matt McAlear kept it positive, stating, “The Dodge Durango and the Hemi engine are a powerful combination, and we’re proud to keep producing the most powerful gas engine SUV into 2025.” He added, “It’s the perfect way to celebrate 20 years of Hemi-powered Durangos.”
However, Dodge will no longer offer the Durango 392 with the 6.4-liter Hemi V8 for 2025, which means the 475 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque from that engine are going away. Instead, buyers will have the choice of a 5.7-liter V8 with 360 hp and 390 lb-ft of torque or a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 with a whopping 710 hp and 645 lb-ft of torque. There’s also a 3.6-liter V6 option.
Pricing for the 2025 Durango starts at $41,995, with the R/T model coming in at $54,495. If you’re after something truly special, the SRT Hellcat special editions will set you back $113,720.
