Volvo drops 100 autonomous cars on the road! See how Swede autopilot works.

Volvo kicks off a new project called Drive Me, in which test drivers will be selected from the public! The marathon will start very soon, in Gothenburg, and includes at least 100 cars!
The technology used by Swedes is one of pre-production and will be improved in the near future. Engineers have equipped the vehicles with a laser scanner with four cameras to "feel" the environment, a "trifocal" camcorder, two long-range radar, and 12 ultrasonic sensors! The autonomous system will use a 3D map, a GPS, and radar to read traffic signs and curves.
Volvo assurance that the Autopilot system can cope with any traffic situation and will remain operational even if some of the complicated system collapse. Even in bad weather, the autopilot feels very comfortable and can take control of the destination if the driver "disconnects"!
