Volkswagen C Coupe GTE to be manufactured exclusively for China
by AllAutoExperts | 28 April, 2015
Presented recently at the Shanghai Auto Show, the new Volkswagen C Coupe GTE received the green light for mass production! It will be available starting with 2016 in China exclusively.
The hybrid will not be offered for the European markets and will not even be assembled in European plants. It will join the rest of VAG models like Passat GTE and Audi A6 L e-Tron and be the 15th model offered with hybrid plug-in propulsion. Although motorization has not been officially confirmed, we would like to remind you that the current prototype unit comes with a 2.0-liter gasoline four-cylinder TFSI, accompanied by an electric motor.
The power goes up to about 245 horsepower and 500 Nm, which can reach one hundred in 8.6 seconds, while top speed is capped at 232 km/h.
However, as I mentioned, fuel consumption is the strong point of the new model, not its performance. Volkswagen C Coupe GTE promises a consumption of only 2.3 liters per 100km in combined mode and the electric mode gives you the ability to travel a distance of 50 kilometers. The hybrid mode grants you a range of up to 800 kilometers.
