Trailblazing Electrified: The Jeep Avenger 4xe Brings AWD to Eco-Friendly Adventures
by AutoExpert | 26 February, 2024
Remember the Jeep Avenger, the brand's first-ever electric cutie? Well, it had some fans scratching their heads because it lacked the all-wheel drive (AWD) that screams "Jeep" to many. But fret no more, adventure seekers, because the Avenger 4xe is here to answer your off-road prayers!
This new mild-hybrid version packs a punch with a 134-horsepower gas engine, two electric motors (one in the front, one in the back), and, most importantly, AWD!
That's right, the Avenger 4xe is the first Avenger to conquer any terrain, unlike its front-wheel-drive siblings. Talk about a unique selling proposition (USP) in the European small SUV market where AWD is usually a rare find.
Now, the electric motors aren't massive, but they do allow the 4xe to cruise silently on electric power at low speeds. So, you can be a whisper-quiet adventurer or unleash the gas engine's roar, depending on your mood (and the terrain).
Remember that cool 4xe concept Jeep showed off in Paris back in 2022? Well, the production version seems to be following suit, based on the single teaser image we have so far. Think rugged good looks, a new front bumper design, green accents, and a lifted stance – basically, everything that makes the 4xe stand out from the regular Avenger crowd.
While we wait for the order books to open in late 2024, you can still choose from the existing Avenger lineup. There's the 1.2-liter gas engine with or without mild-hybrid tech, or the full-electric version with a decent 248-mile range.
So, are you excited about the AWD-equipped, green-tinged Avenger 4xe? Let us know in the comments below! The only question left is, which path will you choose: conquer the trails in silence or with a roar?
