Toyota Is Supposedly Working On A Ford F-150 Raptor Competitor
by AutoExpert | 25 January, 2022
In the growing market for off-road-oriented trucks, the Ford F-150 Raptor competition is rife. Now, Toyota looks to be considering a Tundra TRD Pro-based tough pickup. This truck is believed to be quite similar to Toyota's Tundra TRD Desert Chase concept, which debuted at SEMA last year, according to a corporate insider who spoke to The Drive about the project.
The insider stated Toyota wants to race the truck in the stock class at an as-yet-unspecified event, but no details were given. When asked for comment, a Toyota representative informed they were unable to make any predictions or speculations about upcoming products.
It might have muscular fenders and 18-inch forged aluminum wheels encased in 37-inch General Grabber X3 tires if it follows the path of the concept. The Tundra TRD Pro boasts a twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6, a nickel-metal hydride battery, and an electric engine placed between the engine and a ten-speed automatic gearbox. This configuration allows the truck to generate 437 hp (326 kW / 443 PS) and 583 lb-ft (790 Nm) of torque.
It's unknown if the reported pickup will get a performance increase. We're excited to see what Toyota has in store for us.
