If until now the youngest drivers admitted to driving a car were Americans (16 y.o) then the French have lowered the age to just 14 years old!
The latest changes in the law have made it possible for the French to drive a vehicle at a young age! Not any car but only vehicles approved by regulation. Amongst these is the Renault Twizy a sort of ATV that protects you from wind and rain.
This compact city car is equipped with an engine that develops only 5 horsepower and can reach a maximum speed of 45 km/h, so it is perfectly eligible for young motorists. The price of such a vehicle in France exceeds 6,000 euros and doors (or what appear to be doors) are a paid option!
