In December 2011, Toyota and BMW moved to a new stage of their partnership: the German manufacturer undertook to provide the Japanese small diesel engines, and in exchange for this loan, BMW would receive useful expertise in the development of hybrids. Today, Toyota reveals its first model equipped with a BMW engine.
It's about family man Verso 1.6 D-4D version, equipped with a four-cylinder unit offered by BMW. Toyota Verso Diesel2 delivers 110 horsepower and 270 Nm between 1750 and 2250 r/m. The engine is produced at the BMW factory in Austria and then exported to Turkey, where Toyota Verso is produced. Besides the new Verso 1.6 D-4D, the powerful four-cylinder is used only by the BMW 1 Series.
