Nio Set to Unveil a Luxury Sedan Poised to Rival Mercedes-Maybach S-Class

The buzz is real: Nio is expected to reveal a groundbreaking luxury sedan at the upcoming Nio Day event, stirring excitement as a potential electric adversary to the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class.
Insiders speculate that development of this model has been underway since last December, with an anticipated launch in 2025. This news is set to delight enthusiasts and expand Nio's allure, although it remains to be seen if the brand will venture beyond the Chinese market.
Local reports from Car News China indicate that the sedan will be a true Nio creation, not associated with any subsidiary brand. It will ride on the brand-new NT3 platform, boasting a substantial 10.8-foot wheelbase, so lengthy it will require the latest Nio battery swap stations for compatibility.
In a significant leap forward, this sedan is slated to be Nio's inaugural model featuring an in-house developed autonomous chip. While specifics of the powertrain are still under wraps, it's rumored that Nio's latest electric engine, with a robust 402 HP unveiled in August, will propel the sedan.
Current models like the ES7 and ET7 sport a 402 HP rear motor paired with a 241 HP front motor, hinting that the new flagship could employ a similar or even more powerful dual-motor configuration, leveraging the prowess of two 402 HP units.
Set to make its debut on Nio Day, the sedan is expected to command a price of $141,000, marking its territory in the premium segment and signaling Nio's ambition to redefine luxury mobility.
