The first Maserati car has been built in 1926. The company has continued to work hard since then so that it became one of the most respected pedigree car manufacturers.
However, the Italian brand has gone through lots of ups and downs throughout its history.
Meet MC12, the only modern Maserati supercar that has ever been built.
The chassis of this car is the same as the 2002 Enzo has used, Ferrari. The number of Maserati MC12 produced copies is very little, preserving thus the car's uniqueness.
You have probably understood that the inspiration for MC12 was the beautiful Ferrari Enzo. Nevertheless, the Maserati is bigger and stronger than its inspiration car, in certain aspects.
The design of the car is simply charming, with fine lines, big front lights contrasting with little round stoplights. The producer has decided that all MC12 cars come in one single combination of colors: blue and white. The car is 5143 mm long, 2100 mm wide, and 1205 mm high. Its total weight reaches 1335 kg.
The interior of the car represents a combination of sport and luxury. The blue color is also present in the cabin, blended with carbon fiber and leather.
What is truly surprising about MC12 is that it has no audio system installed in it! The power of this car comes from a 6 liters V12, generating 624 hp. The transmission is identical to the one used on Enzo.
In spite of all the similarities, MC12 was slower than Enzo, needing 3.5 seconds to reach the 100 km/h target, compared to Enzo's 3.14 seconds. The highest speed was 205 mph.
MC12 was produced in 50 copies, which made it as expensive as 770 000 dollars, a price that has raised a lot of critics. In spite of them, there were no problems selling all of the cars.
Nowadays, such a car would cost over 1 million dollars, easily reaching even 2 million dollars.
