Marcello Gandini’s Legacy Lives On In The Modern Lamborghini Bravo Concept

Independent designer Marco Maltese has taken a moment to honor Lamborghini's history. He’s brought the 1974 Lamborghini Bravo back into the spotlight, giving the forgotten concept a modern twist.
This isn’t just a redesign—it’s a tribute to the bold creativity of the 1970s and Marcello Gandini’s legendary work. The original Lamborghini Bravo concept, unveiled at the 1974 Turin Auto Show, was all sharp angles and daring ideas. Built on the Lamborghini Urraco’s platform, it packed a 3.0-liter V8 with 300 horsepower.
It was a bold vision of what a Lamborghini could be, but it never went beyond the concept stage, leaving it as a fascinating “what if” in the brand’s history. Maltese’s reimagined Bravo takes that spirit and updates it for today. He envisions it using Lamborghini’s carbon-fiber Aventador chassis and powered by the iconic 6.5-liter V12.
The design keeps the Lamborghini Bravo’s signature features, like its distinctive vents on the hood and rear deck, dramatic side intakes, and sharp arches. Meanwhile, a black beltline cuts through the body. Updated details like retractable headlights nod to the past while meeting modern standards, and slim LED taillights bring a futuristic edge.
Inside, this design keeps things clean, focusing on what matters most to the driver. We can see cool vintage-style seats, a minimalist dashboard with a wide digital display, and a floating infotainment screen. Though it’s just a digital concept, it raises the question: why not build it?
Marcello Gandini's work shaped Lamborghini’s identity and redefined automotive design. Although the Bravo may not be his most famous creation, its modern version continues its legacy, demonstrating the timeless nature of great ideas.
