A few spy photos got published online where they show a new Jeep Wrangler testing the extended chassis. The extension comes as a solution to the transformation from a 5-speed gearbox to an 8-speed automatic transmission.
The 10-inch extension is visible on both 2 door and 4 door Wrangler vehicles just in front of the A-pillar.
The images also show that the suspension geometry got changed as well, including the rear axle and differential and removal of the rear track bar.
The engine is expected to be the original 3.6-liter V6 with an improved economy and minor updates.
The 2018 Jeep is expected to hit the markets in 2017.
