Hyundai Ioniq 6: The Most Powerful N-Car Ever?
by AutoExpert | 23 November, 2023
Hyundai is reportedly gearing up for the release of its second electric N model, the Ioniq 6 N. Rumors suggest this high-performance sedan could hit the market as early as 2025, boasting a dual-motor setup expected to deliver a robust output exceeding 641 horsepower!
While specific torque details are yet to be disclosed, the Ioniq 5 N cousin already impresses with a combined 545 lb-ft.
Notably, the Hyundai Ioniq 6 is anticipated to surpass its crossover counterpart in power, potentially making it even quicker than the Ioniq 5 N, which achieves a 0–60 mph time of 3.2 seconds.
Moreover, it's speculated that the N variant will be slightly lighter than the standard Ioniq 6. Hyundai's commitment to high-performance electric vehicles was evident with the unveiling of the RN22e last year, described as a preview of an upcoming EV N model.
Boasting 577 horsepower, this electric prototype aligns with the company's focus on pushing the boundaries of performance on the E-GMP platform. Despite the electric shift, Hyundai's N division isn't abandoning gasoline cars altogether. There are indications that the next Elantra N could feature a larger gasoline engine.
However, the trend suggests a broader adoption of electric N models, given the global push for stricter emissions regulations. As always, Hyundai is still committed to making driving exciting, whether it uses electric motors or conventional internal combustion engines.
