Hot Wheels Tracks Get A New Star: Polestar TRX
by AutoExpert | 11 December, 2024
The Polestar TRX, born from a collaboration with Hot Wheels, is the brainchild of the winner of their annual Design Contest. The wild electric pickup truck is heading straight to Hot Wheels production as a 1:64 scale model. This is a big achievement for its designer, Shashank Shekhar from India.
Built to dominate Hot Wheels tracks with jaw-dropping jumps and sharp turns, the TRX boasts massive wheels and high ground clearance.
Its sharp, angular design includes Polestar’s signature LED lighting up front, while the cabin is compact and low-slung—practicality clearly wasn’t the goal here. Out back, the truck bed is long enough to hold a couple of surfboards, adding a fun, adventurous touch.
Shekhar said, "This is the first design I've actually had produced, and it's such a big deal. I never thought something I created would become a Hot Wheels car. It’s been an incredible journey and a real confidence boost as a young designer.”
The contest also highlighted other standout entries. Italian designer Powei Chen’s Cyber Shaker, with its bold colors and aggressive stance, took second place. Roman Moor’s sleek Le Mans-inspired racer received an honorable mention for its stylish retro-futuristic look.
Polestar hasn’t confirmed if it will build a life-size version of the TRX. However, everything is possible. Last year, the company combined designs from its 2022 contest into the Synergy concept, which debuted at the IAA Mobility Show in Munich.
