Fusing Past And Present: The Conceptual Lancia Aurelia Spider By Theophilus Chin
by AutoExpert | 20 March, 2024
We are well aware that the Lancia Ypsilon kick will continue with a new generation in 2026 with the Gamma crossover and a hatchback in 2028 with the Delta. But unfortunately, the much-loved Aurelia Spider isn't on the roster.
This is why digital designer Theophilus Chin created some renderings. Interestingly, the Mazda MX-5 ND served as inspiration for Chin's design.
In an effort to conceptualize a contemporary Aurelia Spider, the digital artist injected a roadster with Lancia's new style language. Round LED taillights and a spoiler are located at the back of the vehicle. The windshield frame, mirrors, and glossy black fenders are all sourced from the Lancia Ypsilon. Up front, we can make out the split LED headlamps set on each corner of the lengthy hood, as well as the lighted Calice grille. Finally, the fictitious designs reveal a retractable soft roof.
Just so you know, the first Lancia Aurelia B24 Spider made its debut in 1954. In 1956, the Aurelia B24 Convertible, an upgrade over the previous Italian roadster, debuted with minor cosmetic tweaks to the outside. Both two-door Aurelia variants, produced in extremely limited quantities, now command high prices due to their impeccable condition.
