First Look: 2026 Honda Passport TrailSport Prepares For Adventure With A Rugged New Design
by AutoExpert | 17 October, 2024
Honda is preparing to launch the 2026 Passport, and while the official debut is set for later this fall, the SUV has already made an appearance at the Rebelle Rally. Drivers Adia Raya and Madison Russell are using a pre-production Passport TrailSport model to tackle the 1,500-mile off-road journey across the American Southwest, giving us an early look at the redesigned Passport.
From images shared on social media, we can see the front end showcases a sleek grille flanked by LED headlights and unique daytime running lights.
There's also a black plastic bumper, a red recovery hook, and what seems to be a faux skid plate for that adventure-ready look. Down the sides, the new Passport gets beefier with muscular fenders, plastic body cladding, and a bold C-pillar that gives it a more aggressive stance compared to its predecessor. A roof rack and rear spoiler complete the SUV's adventurous design cues.
Interestingly, Honda has kept the modifications minimal for the Rebelle Rally, with the only additions being a special wrap and Maxxis RAZR all-terrain tires, meaning what you’re seeing is essentially the version that will hit dealerships early next year. Honda has hinted that the 2026 Passport TrailSport will be its most off-road-capable SUV yet, boasting a rugged chassis, specially tuned suspension, and a robust 3.5-liter V6 engine.
Honda hasn't confirmed the exact numbers, but we expect the 2026 Passport TrailSport to share the same powertrain as the Honda Pilot, delivering 285 hp and 262 lb-ft of torque, offering a slight power boost over the current Passport. The full details will be revealed later this year.
