Extended Range, Elevated Performance: 2025 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV Unveiled
by AutoExpert | 3 October, 2024
For the European market, Mitsubishi has refreshed the 2025 Outlander PHEV, slated for launch in March. While its design remains mostly unchanged, the real updates are under the hood.
The next-generation plug-in hybrid system now offers an extended electric range thanks to a new, larger 22.7 kWh battery, replacing the previous 20 kWh pack. Mitsubishi claims it can now cover up to 53 miles (86 km) on electric power alone, while the total range with a full tank and battery is an impressive 524 miles (844 km).
Powering the 2025 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV is a 2.4-liter petrol engine paired with two electric motors—one for each axle—delivering a combined 302 hp. This setup enables the Outlander PHEV to hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in 7.9 seconds. It also features multiple drive modes, including an EV-only mode and hybrid options for efficiency.
Charging options include both Type 2 and CHAdeMO plugs. The updated model also benefits from enhanced handling through improvements to the S-AWC system, chassis tweaks, and revisions to the tires and suspension for a smoother ride. The updated model features lighter steering for low-speed maneuvering and improved feedback at higher speeds.
Inside, the 2025 Outlander PHEV gets a tech boost with a new 12.3-inch infotainment screen, available Yamaha audio systems, and a 15-watt wireless smartphone charger. Visual changes include a refreshed grille with active shutters and updated 20-inch wheels. Pricing details for specific markets have not yet been announced.
