BYD's Super 9 Unveils A New Era Of Luxury
by AutoExpert | 18 April, 2024
This speedster is unlike anything we've seen from BYD before. BYD, the owner of the Fang Cheng Bao luxury brand, unveiled three new vehicles at a glamorous event in China: a new SUV, a sleek sports car named the Super 9, and two more models.
Design head Wolfgang Egger, who has worked at Alfa Romeo, Seat, Lancia, Audi, and Lamborghini, was on hand to unveil the new Super 9. Though the Super 9 shown here is just a concept, a production version is also in the works and will be released as the Bao 9.
For now, Fang Cheng Bao only has one model available for purchase: the Leopard 5 SUV. On the concept, a curvy bumper with sizable air vents dominates the front. Remarkably, it comes with two sets of LED headlights and DRLs.
The company has also developed a set of concept wheels with center locking mechanisms and opted to use rear-facing cameras instead of conventional wing mirrors. In the middle of the vehicle rests the cockpit, while the back has two buttresses, a sizable diffuser, and a pair of modern taillights.
The seat upholstery for the driver and passenger is a pair of buckets with carbon fiber backs, crimson bolsters, and cushions. Additionally, the concept car features a digital instrument cluster and a carbon fiber steering wheel reminiscent of motorsports.
Behind the wheel, between the passenger and driver, is a long panel that runs the length of the vehicle. Delicate carbon fiber monocoques support the wonderful idea. It is thought to be boasting a battery-electric drivetrain; however, technical specs have not been publicly released just yet.
