BMW has just launched the X3 in the Chinese market, marking an exciting addition to their lineup there. The BMW Brilliance Automotive joint venture owns the Shenyang factory, which will produce both the 25L xDrive and 30L xDrive variants of this special edition X3.
Additionally, customers will have the option to purchase the new BMW X3 in regular wheelbase M50 xDrive form, manufactured in Spartanburg, USA, and shipped to China. With very few exceptions, the Chinese BMW X3 follows the same design language as the globally launched X3 two months ago.
The overall dimensions of the Chinese X3 are 4,865 mm (191.5 inches) in length and 1,920 mm (75.6 inches) in width. The X3 25L xDrive, equipped as standard with the M Sport Package, gives it a little sportier look, according to BMW. A choice of six special paint colors and an illuminated kidney grille are standard on all variants.
Inside, future owners will find the BMW Interaction Bar, a flat-bottomed steering wheel, the massive BMW Curved Display, veganza sports chairs in three two-tone colors, wireless smartphone charging, and a customizable panoramic glass top with lighting.
A 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine powers both versions of the BMW X3 that are available in China. This engine's output is 190 horsepower and 229 lb-ft of torque in the X3 25L xDrive, with an increase to 258 horsepower and 295 lb-ft in the X3 30L xDrive. Both come standard with all-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
