BMW Surpasses Tesla In European EV Sales For The First Time

BMW has managed to surpass Tesla in the European market for electric car sales for the first time. In July, sales of BMWs exceeded those of Tesla vehicles by about 300.
In the Old Continent, BMW sold more electric vehicles than Tesla for the first time in the company's history, according to statistics from JATO Dynamics. Tesla sold 14,561 electric vehicles in July, 308 fewer than the Bavarian carmaker, which sold 14,869 vehicles.
Nonetheless, Tesla is still the market leader for electric vehicles because of the Model Y, which sold 9,544 units in 2023, a 16% decrease from the previous year. With 6,573 sales, the Volvo EX30 is in second place. The Volkswagen ID.4 is in third place with 5,295 sales, a 40% decrease from July 2023. With 4,694 sold, the Tesla Model 3 falls to fourth place, a 17% decrease.
With 4,305 sales, BMW's best-selling electric vehicle, the iX1, comes in sixth place, up 25% from the previous year. The i4, which has sold 4,198 units and increased by 23%, is the next BMW vehicle in the rankings. July saw 139,244 fewer electric vehicles sold on the European market than at the same time last year.
