Infiniti Celebrates 35 Years With Luxe QX60 Concept, Eyes Revival In China
by AutoExpert | 19 November, 2024
Infiniti is facing a tough road in China, with sales hitting a steep decline this year and murmurs of potential market withdrawal swirling in the air.
Nevertheless, Infiniti remains hopeful. In response, the brand is making a bold statement at the Guangzhou Auto Show with a special 35th-anniversary concept, a luxurious twist on the Infiniti QX60.
What immediately grabs attention it the rich purple paint job brings a new level of sophistication to the QX60, highlighting its sculpted lines and bold proportions. Infiniti has ditched the usual chrome for sleek rose gold accents, which frame the grille, doors, and windows with a warm metallic glow. Around the back, the rose gold theme extends to the badges and exhaust surrounds, tying the look together.
Additional upgrades include a redesigned front bumper, updated rocker panels, and roof racks topped with a spacious storage box for added practicality. Inside, the cabin is awash in plush purple leather, draping everything from the dashboard to the doors in opulent texture, with rose gold details.
This stylish Infiniti QX60 concept comes at a time when Infiniti’s numbers in China are painting a grim picture. Between January and October, the brand sold just 1,916 vehicles—less than half of the already modest 5,825 it managed throughout 2023. With local brands dominating the market, Infiniti is struggling to stay in the game. Fueling the uncertainty are reports of internal shakeups, with rumors suggesting the brand’s leadership in China has undergone significant changes.
On the other hand, rumors say that Dongfeng Nissan has transferred Infiniti's former CEO, sparking worry about the company's future in the region. However, Infiniti says that it is not going away, and the QX60 concept appears to be a proclamation of intent. It will be really interesting to watch the outcome.
