Bathurst Roars As Genesis Drops 1,071 HP X Gran Berlinetta Concept

Genesis lit up Mount Panorama earlier today, dropping jaws with two wild concepts ahead of the Bathurst 12 Hour. The X Gran Berlinetta Concept and GV60 Magma weren’t just there for show—they hit the legendary track with serious attitude, giving us a sneak peek at Genesis’s growing obsession with motorsport and high-performance machines.
The X Gran Berlinetta resembles a vehicle from a video game, yet it is more than just an attractive appearance—it is fully functional. Racing legend Jacky Ickx took it for a joyride around the circuit, pushing it hard.
Genesis initially stated that the concept combines a mid-mounted V6 engine with an electric motor, producing 1,071 horsepower and nearly 1,000 lb-ft of torque. It's unclear whether this is the exact setup under Ickx's feet, but he couldn't contain his excitement: "It's a complete beast—raw, loud, and wild." You could hear the crowd loving it as I roared by."
As bonkers as the X Gran Berlinetta is, the GV60 Magma is the one to watch. The GV60 Magma, a near-production electric vehicle, is expected to be Genesis's response to the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N and Kia EV6 GT. We expect the road-going version to launch soon, and judging from the track version's performance, it's poised for success.
Ickx couldn’t help but laugh at the contrast between the two cars. "The X Gran Berlinetta? Absolute chaos—roaring and thrilling. The GV60 Magma? Smooth, quiet, but with insane torque. Felt like a world away from the old Falcon I raced here back in the day." Looks like Genesis isn’t just dipping a toe in the performance game—they’re diving in headfirst.
