Turning A New Leaf: Genesis Goes All-Electric In The UK
by AutoExpert | 29 January, 2025
Genesis is taking a bold step in the UK, phasing out all combustion engine models as it transitions to an all-electric lineup by 2025. The G70 sedan and Shooting Brake, as well as the GV70 and GV80 SUVs, are now only available from remaining stock — and they're already selling out fast.
After that, the lineup will focus solely on electric vehicles. By next year, Genesis will offer the Electrified G80 sedan with an extended wheelbase (arriving in Q2), the Electrified GV70 SUV (coming mid-2025), and the updated GV60 crossover.
All three have recently been refreshed with design tweaks, better equipment, and improved battery performance. There's also a performance-oriented Genesis GV60 Magma set to launch this fall. In addition to EVs, Genesis plans to roll out hybrid models as quickly as possible, bringing more variety to its lineup.
This move aligns with the company’s strategy to expand into new European markets beyond its current operations in the UK, Germany, and Switzerland. On the motorsport side, Genesis will be entering Le Mans with an LMDh prototype, a move that should help develop new technologies for future production cars.
Brand Director Jonny Miller emphasized that Genesis is listening to customer feedback and wants to build a diverse lineup tailored for European drivers.
