Audi R20 in 2017 could become a supercar based on dedicated endurance racing bolide

Audi wants to enter the premium league of supercar manufacturers. Bugatti made the ultra-fast Veyron, Lamborghini will launch Aventador Veloce and Porsche is preparing the model 918 Spyder. Audi is the only premium brand from Volkswagen group which puts its hope solely on the R8 and future R8 e-tron for supercar status. But things will change soon.
Audi is already working on a supercar much more extreme than the current R8. It will be based, according to internal sources, on the model called the R18 dedicated to endurance racing. And the name of this future supercar could be Audi R20 and will borrow design cues directly from the racing model. LED headlights and vertical aerodynamic an element specific to Audi R18 e-tron quattro which participated in the 24 hour race of Le Mans. The new Audi supercar could be launched in 2017, will use a hybrid propulsion system with V6 turbodiesel engine and 550 hp paired with two electric motors of 75 hp each. The interior will also be inspired by the world of racing with cameras instead of mirrors and classic four-point safety belts.
