Audi Q8 and SQ8: Unveiling the Stunning Rebranding at IAA Mobility 2023
by AutoExpert | 6 September, 2023
IAA Mobility 2023 in München didn't disappoint, and Audi stole the spotlight by showcasing its revamped Q8 and SQ8 models on the red carpet. These iconic SUVs received a makeover that focuses on lighting units, new colors, wheels, and a technology infusion.
Unlike some past attempts at facelifts, the Q8's redesign was a resounding success. The standout features of this transformation include the HD Matrix LED headlights, offering a high beam range above 43.5 mph, and digital DRLs that create various distinctive light signatures.
But it's not just about the lights; Audi added a vibrant color palette to the mix, featuring shades like Sakhir Gold, Ascari Blue, and Chili Red.
The hexagonal Singleframe grille received a refresh as well, with vertical slits for the standard Q8 and L-shaped accents for the S line package and the SQ8. The standard Q8 sports rugged-looking skirts and a rear diffuser, along with a new exhaust system boasting redesigned tailpipes. To complete the visual upgrade, there are five new alloy wheel designs ranging from 21 to 23 inches.
Inside, the hardware remains consistent, but there's an addition of more third-party applications. Audi's redesigned Virtual cockpit showcases its brand-new ADAS graphics. The options for interior makeovers have also expanded to include nine decorative inlays, including fine grain ash, carbon twill matte, and aluminum linear silver gray.
At launch, the Q8 Audi with UE specs offers a choice of petrol and diesel powertrains, delivering between 228 and 500 HP. The V6 powertrain is paired with an 8-speed Tiptronic transmission, complemented by a 48V mild-hybrid system. Looking ahead, we anticipate more potent models like the Q8 TFSIe PHEV and RSQ8, often dubbed a "budget-friendly" Lamborghini Urus.
When it comes to the chassis, there's the option to replace it with electronically-controlled adaptive air suspension, including a sportier variant.
The SQ8 features all-wheel steering and can optionally be equipped with an electromechanical active roll stabilization system. The steering system is now available for all Q8 variants.
The 2024 Q8 Audi is already available for sale in Europe, with prices in Germany starting at $93,145 USD for the Q8 45 TDI Quattro and rising to $128,254 USD for the SQ8 TFSI.
