Following Google, Apple decided to launch itself into the auto industry. The company hired recently several specialists from Tesla to build their own car.
Apple is one of the most expensive companies in the world with a total capitalization of approximately 700 billion US dollars. It seems that their direct rival, Google, has touched a nerve announcing that they will shortly launch an autonomous car. Google's car is already undergoing tests and is powered by an electric motor that will allow the car a top speed of 40 km/h. The EV will accommodate two passengers and will travel without the driver's intervention.
The answer from Apple was not long-expected and they recently announced CarPlay - software that allows control of some vehicle functions from the mobile phone. From confidential sources, we learned that Apple employed experts in technology and automotive design. Moreover, a good number of them were hired by Tesla.
Financial Times says Apple already built a secret laboratory for the drafting and development of their car. Moreover, the company's CEO, Tim Cook said the auto industry is very attractive for the future and even for Apple.
Although many say that Apple will not succeed in a field that requires a lot of experience and knowledge, but they might be wrong. One of the solutions could be the employment of experts from large auto companies. And from some sources such as Linkedln, we hear that Apple hired the manager of research and development from Silicon Valley Mercedes-Benz, Johann Jungwirth.
If Apple manages to create a car it most likely will be an autonomous, fully electric and its name could be iCar or iMove.
