An Estonian Inspired By His Passion For Speed Built A Volkswagen V8 Turbo Beetle

A drag race posing a 10-second quarter-mile in a Type-1 inspired the Estonian Joosep Jarv to build an even faster Volkswagen. It took him 10 years to build the Beetle able to race the quarter-mile in less than 8-seconds.
The Volkswagen Turbo Beetle is assembled from a 1,585cc VW motor, an old turbo from a diesel BMW 3 Series, an air-cooled 2.0-liter engine from a Transporter T3, and another pair of turbos taken from two BMW 525ds. This way, the Beetle is fast and EV worth of envy for any automaker.
But then, he added an Audi 01E FWD gearbox and literally attached it to his budget 4.2-liter V8 from Audi A8. After the result of 11.7 seconds, headed some nitrous to the party which reduced the result to 10-seconds.
For the 8 seconds, he made Aero modification at the rear wing and the front splitter, a Quarter Master 3-disc unit, and a new SQS Racing straight-cut gears in the transmission. Joosep won’t stop here, because now he aims for the ‘Outlaw’ class run in 7-second ETs.
