2023 Nissan Z With 400 HP Is A Fearsome Rival For Toyota Supra

We may be in the midst of the electric-mobility revolution, but there's still room for one final gas-powered Nissan Z, and this is it: the 2023 Nissan Z. The production version is nearly identical to the Z Proto that was introduced this time last year, with only minor cosmetic changes.

The most notable modification is the addition of a trunk lid spoiler, which gives the sports car a bit more aggressiveness. 2023 Nissan Z has a tall bonnet with strong lines and a design that is reminiscent of the original Z. The Proto's contentious square grille has been maintained, and the headlights with their edge design and twisted LED daytime running lights relate to the Fairlady 240ZG of the 1970s and immediately grab the attention.

There will be three monotone exterior tones and six two-tone exterior hues to choose from. In recent months, much has been made about the Z's engine. We expected a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine, and that's precisely what it has. This engine produces 400 horsepower and 350 pound-feet (475 Newton-meters) of torque, which is less than some rumors indicated but more than the flagship Toyota Supra.

There are two transmission choices available. The first is a six-speed manual with a sophisticated launch control system that powers the back wheels. Rev-matching and a carbon fiber composite driveshaft are also available on six-speed versions. A 9-speed automated gearbox is also available.

Obviously, the new Nissan Z must handle well to compete with the Toyota Supra. In comparison to the previous 370Z, the 2023 Z features redesigned front and rear monotube shock absorbers with a larger diameter.

The dampening force of these new shocks has been reduced by 20%, which helps to reduce impact shock over uneven terrain. The double-wishbone aluminum suspension has been redesigned, and improved body stiffness and an electronic power steering system are said to assist improve turning agility by 13%.

Standard and Sport driving modes are available on models with the nine-speed automatic transmission, with the latter providing better acceleration control, a sports-mode steering characteristic, active sound augmentation, and a sports-oriented dynamic control configuration.

Aside from that, the 2023 Z has four-piston aluminum brakes up front and two-piston calipers in the back. The vehicle will be offered in two normal variants: Sport and Performance. The Z Performance is fitted with a manual clutch-type limited-slip differential in addition to 19-inch wheels with 255/40 front and 275/35 rear tires (compared to 245/45 tires all around for the Sport).

Yellow brake calipers, bronze-colored wheels, leather-appointed seats with yellow highlights, and yellow stitching will be offered in a limited-run Z Proto Spec version. Only 240 units will be constructed.

The inside of the 2023 Nissan Z maintains the exterior's motif with a vintage style that is significantly different from the Toyota Supra. The vehicle comes equipped with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and 3 analog gauge pods that indicate boost pressure, turbo speed, and voltage above the infotainment screen. Customers will have three color palettes to select from Graphite, Red, and Blue.

 2023 Nissan Z
Hiroshi Tamura, the new Z's chief product expert, stated in a release, "Simply put, our objective is to make this the finest Z ever, period." “We increase the bar with each generation, pushing the boundaries of Z and continue to tap into the human need for the next amazing adventure. The all-new Z is meant to be one with the driver, a 'dancing partner' for their on-road experiences, rather than merely strong and agile.”

2023 Nissan Z has yet to get the official price, but many present at the launch speculate that it would start at approximately $40,000. In spring 2022, it will be available through U.S. dealers around the country.
