2022 Tesla Model 3 And Model Y Get A Slew Of Updates In Europe
by AutoExpert | 13 December, 2021
During the European certification procedure for the Tesla Model 3 and Model Y, the electric manufacturer submitted paperwork to local authorities indicating improvements. These documents subsequently made their way to the Tesla Fahrer und Freunde forum and eventually to Electrek, giving us an idea of what's to come.
Some of the changes have already been applied to the more costly Model S and Model X and are now flowing down, while others have been applied to the Model 3 and the Y in China and are now moving to cars constructed at the Berlin Gigafactory.
Tesla Model 3/Y gets 15.5-volt lithium-ion batteries instead of 12-volt lead-acid batteries, which is one of the minor alterations. This was done a year ago using the Model S/X. To deal with the additional voltage, several components in the younger siblings will be replaced, including the windshield washer fluid pump. The laminated glass that was recently installed in the front doors will also be utilized in the back windows. A new internal cabin radar and infrared camera will be available for the Model Y.
Tesla looks to be planning to use the AMD Ryzen gaming processor that was incorporated into the Model Y Performance's media control unit in China in the Tesla Model 3 Performance. The chip substitutes an Intel Atom processor in the infotainment system, improving reaction time and performance. This will necessitate an upgrade to the infotainment system to match the Model S and Model X's functionality.
