2016 Detroit: Mercedes Boasts With SLC AMG And SLC 43 AMG
by AllAutoExperts | 15 January, 2016
Mercedes seems to be proud of the direction that their roadster segment is going. Especially since they are now presenting the new SLC (former SLK) in all its glory, during the 2016 NAIAS in Detroit.
But not everybody shares their opinion. They do agree that the SLC is better, both in terms of performance and design, but don't like the fact that the SLC is not manly enough as the SLK 55 was.
However, the complaining stops when they jump behind the wheel of the SLC 43 AMG with all its 367 PS and 383 lb-ft of torque that can push it to 62 mph in just 4.7 seconds. Another thing that Mercedes has going for them is that this segment, they don't feel the burn to release more powerful models as to stay ahead of the curve.
The bad thing that the Germans have to overcome is the attractiveness and price of the new models. Potential buyers could turn their eyes to cheaper Audi TTS, BMW Z4, and even Boxter S.
Hell, if you really want to show off, you could as well get the 2016 F-Type Convertible for $68k. It will be interesting to see how Mercedes will attract new buyers. We'll be watching.
