Yokohama tries its luck at Pikes Peak.

The climb Pikes Peak race in 2013 will participate, in addition to car 208 of Sebastien Loeb and the GT86 of Nobuhiro "Monster" Tajima, some electric vehicles. While among these is the model of the HER-02 from Yokohama manufacturer, which was developed in 2009 and has participated at three editions of the American competition.
The Japanese hope that their electric car will have a better outcome than the last year, when it covered the route with 156 turns in 11 minutes and 58.974 seconds, approximately, 20 seconds faster than in 2011. Technically speaking, Yokohama HER-02 has an electric motor that develops an equivalent of 255 hp and turns the rear wheels. The electricity comes from a set of lithium-ion battery Panasonic of 37 kWh and the total weight of the car is 1,150 kg.
The competitors of Yokohama car is a BMW M3 E36 converted into an electric vehicle with 342 hp and Latvian seater Drive-EO with wheel drive and a total power of 540 hp.
