BAC has introduced a unique version of its potent Mono R, a result of a collaboration with Hypetex, a specialist in lightweight materials. Only 30 examples of the Mono R will be produced.
For this special Mono R, BAC used Hypetex's titanium carbon fiber twill with a crystallized lacquer, giving the carbon fiber a stunning silver sheen. This titanium carbon fiber is featured on the upper part of the Mono R's body, while the remaining panels retain a traditional gloss carbon fiber finish.
Hypetex's carbon fiber is available in various colors and is significantly lighter than conventional paint. While paint typically adds 138 grams per square meter, Hypetex's colored carbon fiber finishes add just 17 grams per square meter.
The owner of this unique BAC Mono R customized it through the BAC Bespoke program. The CEO of Hypetex, Marc Cohen, expressed pride in their involvement in creating one of the world's lightest and fastest production supercars, stating that their colored carbon fiber is a perfect match for the Mono R's sleek design and raw power.
Powering the BAC Mono R is a 2.5-liter naturally-aspirated four-cylinder engine co-developed with Mountune, producing 343 hp. This lightweight single-seater, weighing just 1,224 lbs, can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in as little as 2.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 170 mph.
