Would You Buy An Electric Lancia Delta?

Lancia has officially promised the Delta's rebirth in the shape of an electric hatchback. However, there is already an electrified Delta (an Integrale) on the market. GCK Exclusiv-e has revealed the Lancia Delta Evo-e project, which will be produced in a limited number of 47 cars and sold at an unspecified price.

Since electromods seem to become popular, it was just a question of time before someone did the same with the original Delta. Guerlain Chicherit, the head of GCK Motorsport, is the one behind the makeover. Didier Auriol, a former rally driver and WRC champion who has spent four seasons behind the wheel of the Delta, was chosen as the spokesperson.

The Lancia Delta Evo-e doesn't change much from the original in terms of appearance. The company inserts carbon fiber elements all around the body, such as the splitter, fender intakes, rear spoiler, and diffuser, after rebuilding the original car.

The transformation involves a lot of Alcantara with striking orange stitching, a Momo steering wheel, a pair of Recaro seats, a modern Blam audio system, and an Alpine retractable infotainment display to keep the dashboard's original aesthetic.

The alterations beneath the skin, however, are more essential. The petrol motor has been substituted with an electric engine with a maximum output of 197 hp (147 kW / 200 PS) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) and a constant output of 121 hp (90 kW / 122 PS) and 200 Nm (147.5 lb-ft). Those stats may appear low to contemporary standards, but they are very close to the original automobile.

With a 29 kWh capacity, the battery only adds a few lbs to the vehicle's overall weight but provides a stated driving range of 200 km (124 miles). The total weight of the car is 1,440 kg (3,175 lbs), which is only 100 kg (220 lbs) more than the classic Lancia Delta.

Most enthusiasts will find it offensive to turn one of the most recognizable hot hatchbacks into a battery electric vehicle. Others have shown, however, that a customer is willing to pay for this form of reincarnation, which allows people to enjoy their favorite historic car from the past while using modern technology and emitting zero emissions.
