What Do You Think Of A $1 Million McLaren Titanium-Graphene Tourbillon Watch

It has been an absolutely shocking piece of news when the partnership of TAG Heuer with McLaren ended a year ago. The British racing team/supercar manufacturer has a mind-blowing project at the moment, even if it doesnțt relate to TAG. The result is a $1 Million McLaren Titanium-Graphene Tourbillon Watch.

The new partnership between McLaren and the first-class watchmaker Richard Mille has been materialized in their current project a new RM 50 03 Tourbillon Split Seconds Chronograph Ultralight McLaren F1.

McLaren Titanium-Graphene Tourbillon Watch

It was launched at the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie last week. It's a tourbillon, which means it rotates the entire mechanism at one revolution per minute, in that way removing the effect of gravity on the way the watch works.

Despite its lightweight of 40 grams, the watch is equipped with a 70-hour power reserve, a split-second flyback chronograph function for tracking lap times, and a torque sensor able to assure the movement from over-winding. Its weight was possible to achieve thanks to the titanium and carbon fiber material used, as well as graphene.

That's absolutely impressive and it's exciting that McLaren's name will appear on a mass-market wristwatch. It's a limited edition, of course. Overall, you'll find only 75 of them and each of them will be joined by a 1:5-scale model of McLaren-Honda MP4 - 32 that hasn't been launched yet. By the way, it will be driven by Fernando Alonso and Stoffel Vandoorne in the 2017 Formula One World Championship.

If you're wondering what the price is, then we'll tell you some details and you'll try to guess the price. A Richard Mille's work will typically cost you $100k or more, a tourbillon - around half a million. So a McLaren Titanium-Graphene Tourbillon Watch will likely cost as much as a McLaren P1 hybrid hypercar.
