Watch Bugatti Chiron Performing Its First Dyno Run

Bugatti Chiron epitomizes extravagant living. At a starting price of $3 million, you get a vehicle with a 1500-hp W-16 engine and 1,180 lb-ft of torque. This engine has the power to accelerate you to 60 mph in under 2 seconds before taking you to 260 mph.
It's a mind-boggling feat of engineering, and you can see why some people might want to verify some of those figures for themselves. Cannonball Garage in Gilberts, Illinois, decided to put one on the dyno. Toman and his crew had to find out how to get the Bugatti onto the dyno before they could do any form of testing. In a regular automobile, this wouldn't be a big deal, but the Chiron isn't a basic one.
The team remarked that Bugatti had fitted the largest underbody tray they'd ever seen and that it was hard to extract. Given that this component is almost certainly critical to the car's high-speed aero package, it's ideal if it's difficult to remove. The Chiron is also an impressive 80 inches wide, which is just 1 inch narrower than the garage's Dynojet 424x Chassis Dyno. Investing the time to get the car on the dyno paid off in the end, as the results were better than expected.
Bugatti Chiron achieved dyno values of 1369 hp and 1163 lb-ft at all four wheels after bursting across the powerband. This test was conducted using 93 octane gasoline directly from the pump, which is even more astounding.
