Faster than 10 seconds is regarded to be really quick for a quarter-mile run. There aren't many supercars out there that can do it, but thanks to a 1200-hp engine and all-wheel drive, this Mk2 VW Golf can easily accomplish it.
Back in 2017, Boba Racing in Germany developed this Golf and it went on to run an 8.67-second quarter-mile time at a runway contest.
It was pumping 64 lbs of boost via its inline-four at the time. That boost proved too high for the vehicle to handle at the latest event in Santa Pod Raceway, so it was reduced to 48 lbs, enabling driver Boba Kettler to achieve a fastest time of 8.39 secs in the quarter at 166 mph.
