Subaru's STI Edition Breathes New Life into Old Forester
by AutoExpert | 11 April, 2024
Despite Subaru's 2018 US debut of the all-new sixth-generation Forester, Japanese clients continue to use the current model year. In 2024, this Forester receives several little upgrades for the model year, one of which is a new STI Sport Black inside Selection trim that has an all-black interior.
New trims and limited editions are Subaru's way of keeping customers interested. Specifically, Subaru debuted a new Forester STI with a Sport Black Interior Selection for the 2024 model year. This darkened version borrows heavily from the current STI Sport package, which debuted in 2022, but adds Nappa leather upholstery, silver stitching, and piano black accents to the seats.
Additionally, you can pair the unique Offshore Blue Metallic exterior color with the STI Sport Black Interior Selection. A 1.8-liter turbocharged boxer engine provides 175 horsepower in this variant. Its handling skills have improved, however, thanks to STI-tuned dampers. The 2024 model year also sees the introduction of two new special paint colors, Geyser Blue for the X-Edition and XT-Edition.
This color first debuted in Japan with the XT-Edition in late 2022 and is now featured on the US-spec Subaru Forester Wilderness. An enduring cargo floor cover, water-repellent upholstery, and black interior accents are standard on both the X-Edition and XT-Edition grades. While the XT-Edition has a more powerful turbocharged 1.8-liter engine, the 2.0-liter e-Boxer hybrid powertrain is standard on the Forester X-Edition.
Standard on every Forester trim level is Subaru's Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. In Japan, the base price of a 2024 Subaru Forester is ¥3,069,000 ($20,040). Regarding the optional trims, prices begin at ¥3,377,000 ($22,051) for the X-Edition, ¥3,432,000 ($22,411) for the XT-Edition, and ¥3,850,000 ($25,137) for the STI Sport Black Interior Selection.
