Italy is well known for its exquisite design taste. The latest Silk-FAW Hongqi S9 Hypercar is the best example of a mixed perfection. The automaker can now guarantee high-class performances and an output of 1,400 horsepower due to its hybrid driveline. The drive tests revealed a 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint in just 1.9 seconds. The top speed is up to 249 mph (400 km/h) delivered by the improved V8T hybrid power system combining pairs the engine with three electric motors.
The design was led by the legendary Walter De Silva, former head of Volkswagen Group Design. The VP of Styling and Design Silk-FAW team already has experience with some previous projects such as Audi R8, Lamborghini Egoista, and even the modern Volkswagen Scirocco.
“We designed the shapes and technical surfaces skillfully until we reached the point of maximum balance between aerodynamics, proportions, and beauty. No detail was left to chance to complete the body shape of the Hongqi S9 with an aesthetic language of essential, dynamic lines. The result reveals a timeless, athletic styling that defines the Essence of Beauty,” said De Silva
Hongqi S9 made its first appearance in 2019 during the Frankfurt Auto Show, and the final production model suffered several modifications. Now, the model features a different design and a much simpler red paint. The original design unveiled a blueprint and we can say that this version is a better one.
The Hongqi brand is one of China’s oldest and has produced trendy cars since 1958. Silk-FAW was developed under one goal - to make high-performance and new energy sports vehicles. The Hypercar is limited to 99 units and the first batch will have a starting price of $1.45 million scheduled to be ready for delivery in 2022.
