The launch of the LaFerrari, the Prancing Horse's new flagship, was one of the key points of the Geneva Motor Show press days. And, as expected, LaFerrari attracted great attention both from the existing and the potential customers of the brand.
"The production of the new LaFerrari will remain limited to 499 units, although we have received more than 700 orders so far", Luca Cordero di Montezemolo, the president of the Italian brand and the man who is at the helm of the company since 1991, declared at Geneva. According to him, the only option Ferrari is offering is a different paint job. So, those who aren't happy with the red, yellow, and black colors offered as standard, can have their supercar finished in a different tint for an extra fee. One LaFerrari unit will cost 1 million Euros plus taxes.
LaFerrari is the first model that was styled entirely in-house since 1951 onwards. Pininfarina has been the traditional partner of the Italian brand that designed all Ferrari production cars except the 1973 Dino 308 GT4, which was done by Bertone. "The Pininfarina's non-involvement into the development of the first in-house designed model does not signal the end of our strong relationship. Is quite the opposite: we are collaborating now on two other models, which I hope will enter the market very soon", the Ferrari's president declared at Geneva.
The chief-designer who signed the new LaFerrari is Flavio Manzoni, an Italian recruited by the Maranello brand from the Volkswagen Group's staff, where he led the Advanced Design Office.
