Opus, a German tuner, is giving the already formidable second-generation Mercedes-AMG GT 63 an even more powerful upgrade. When it leaves the factory, the AMG GT 63 boasts 577 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque.
However, this first Opus package, called the Stage 1 kit, modifies the factory-installed electronic control unit (ECU) to produce 700 horsepower and 701 lb-ft of torque.
The tuner claims that the GT 63 can reach 62 mph in 3.0 seconds, down from 3.2 seconds for the stock model, thanks to increased horsepower and torque. Additionally, the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 can reach a speed of 124 mph in only 9.5 seconds.
Electrical regulation allows the vehicle to reach a maximum speed of 315 km/h (196 mph). Opus' Stage 1 kit is now undergoing TÜV clearance, and the tuning company intends to launch sales of the package in May. Opus is also developing a new exhaust system but has yet to reveal its price.
As an added bonus, the 800 horsepower and 774 lb-ft torque package is currently under development by Opus.
