We know that Italy and Emirates are famous for their speedy enforcement and it's time that Australia gets its own version of the BMW X5 Protection V6 based on the latest G05-generation X5. The bulletproof X5, revealed back in 2019, will join the Australian Federal Police's (AFP) fleet, which already uses older X5s to transport VIPs and dignitaries around safely.
For security matters, no performance details were revealed from any of the parties – BMW Australia and AFP when asked about the new fleet of armored X5s. The BMW X5s aren’t foreigners for the AFP since they are using them for over a decade. This upgraded version of the upgraded X5 Protection V6 is an impressive piece of kit. The exterior isn’t that different from the stock X5, you could tell them apart only when its blue emergency lights are flashing which is again a security checkpoint.
The passenger compartment was reinforced to protect against "lateral blasts of up to 15 kilograms of TNT from a distance of four meters." AFP would also get a self-sealing fuel tank, multilayered safety glass, and the use of security steel and fiber composite materials. The protector is powered by a 4.4-liter V8 delivering up to 523 horsepower. Empowered with extra weight, this one gives you a long time for 62 mph (100 km/h). We hope that Aussie VIP guests will feel more than comfortable in this armored vehicle with AFP next to them for protection.
