Mercedes-Benz Recall Involves GLE, GLS, E-Class Models

Another Mercedes-Benz Recall is about to be issued. This one involves more than 18,000 cars. According to the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA), the recalls will refer to models from 2017, as well as some from 2016. Mercedes will start calling its customers in March.

2016 GLS450 and GLE350 models might be affected at the windshield. The windshield bonding might not be safe during an accident, but they will probably replace just four of them, free of charge of course.

Mercedes-Benz Recall

The second recall refers to the 2017 E300 models that have an issue with shift lever modules. Some of the models might have a damaged circuit board, which can prevent the shift lever from selecting a gear. This recall expects around 73 vehicles to have this problem.

Mercedes-Benz Recall

The third recall involves defective center console latches for GLE and GLS models. This might become dangerous in some crashes and lead to serious injuries. The company will change the center consoles on certain cars. The change might involve 5,882 cars, including:

  • GLE400 4Matic 2017
  • GLE350 4Matic 2017
  • GLE350 2017
  • GLE550E 4Matic 2017
  • GLE63 AMG 2017
  • GLE63S AMG 2017
  • GLE43AMG 4Matic Coupe 2017
  • GLE63S AMG 4Matic Coupe 2017
  • GLS450 4Matic2017
  • GLS550 4Matic2017
  • GLS63 AMG 4Matic2017

The most important recall implies broken airbag detection control units in the 2017 E300, E300 4Matic, and E43 AMG models. There is a risk it was not installed correctly. This might lead to a misunderstanding regarding an adult seat and a child seat, especially in a car crash. This recall expects to change and fix 12,456 vehicles. Last month, Mercedes recalled around 48,000 units for the same issue in 2016-2017 GL- and GLE-class cars.

The good part with this Mercedes-Benz recall is that there haven’t been any incidents or injuries reported yet.
