Mercedes-AMG GT-R Plunges Into Canal: A High-Speed Misadventure Gone Wrong
by AutoExpert | 7 March, 2024
Dude, check this out: some poor schmuck in the Netherlands just managed to sink their Mercedes-AMG GT-R in a canal. Like, we're talking mostly underwater, spoiler sticking out kind of situation. And get this – the whole thing happened because of a bad pass on a straight road!
Here's how it went down (apparently):
- Autobahn Dreams, Country Road Reality: This driver was out cruising some rural backroad, thinking they were on a speedway. Decide to overtake someone... and completely lose control.
- Car Takes a Dive: Instead of passing their target, they end up flying off the road and straight into the canal. Two people inside, but thankfully they both got out okay.
- Sunken Treasure: The car basically disappears underwater. All you can see is the hatch and spoiler poking out. Later photos show it completely wrecked, plants inside and everything.
Honestly, the damage doesn't look too bad on the outside, which is mind-blowing. But here's the real question: did they drown the engine? If it was still running when it hit water, it's toast. If not, maybe there's a sliver of hope for this poor AMG.
Seriously though, this is why you only try to pass when it's truly safe. Nobody wants to trade their supercar for a houseboat, especially not like this!
